A silhouette portrait cut by Arthur Forrester and signed in 1951. Forrester rarely signed his work, possibly due to time constraints, but also because he always presented both silhouettes he made to the paying customer, preferring to give them better value for money, rather than keeping one as a record for the future use of collectors who would only be interested in his work after his death. By producing unsigned work, has made the collectors’ job rather harder, as nobody knows exactly what he produced. Condition: Good. Portrait very clear, as is the signature, but the corners have been damaged by having been pinned up for display. Stamped on the back: Arthur Forrester, Studio Central, Pier B’pool.
