The method is predominantly used for jewellery pieces (stone settings, clips), glasses or similar items. Coatings applied by pen plating are very thin. If thicker galvanic layers are to be deposited we recommend the standard method of using covering lacquer and subsequent plating with the respective electrolyte. This replacement plating pen is designed for use with the Heimerle + Meule Junior 500 Unit (998 142H) and Heimerle + Meule Electroplating Unit Pgg 10 (998 141H). Developed by highly qualified specialists, pen plating units allow the user to electroplate smaller, detailed and selective areas which would otherwise have to be masked off, in a time consuming process. The pen measures 170mm length whilst the elastic cord measures 300mm. Instructions for use: Plug the cable with the pair of tweezers attached into the adequate jack at the rectifier Plug the cable with the electroplating pen attached into the adequate jack at the rectifier Goods to be coated must be degreased electrolytically, rinsed and dried first Adjust the voltage according to the required rate stated in the technical documentation of the electrolyte to be used Sharpen the felt tip as required by cutting it laterally Lay the felt tip of the electroplating pen into the pen plating solution for a few seconds Then insert the felt tip into the peak of the pen as deep as possible Afterwards stroke the area to be coated gently a few times with the plating pen Rinse the item once again under flowing water, if necessary degrease electrolytically and conduct an acid dip treatment Please note – The electroplating pen should be rinsed well with demineralised water before every use in order to remove any residues from the inside which could prevent proper contact with the felt tip. It is necessary to replace the felt tip from time to time, especially when the peak of the felt tip has become black.
