George Charlton Study of a Nude Woman Signed pencil drawing Framed 36 x 38 cm Drawing 26.5 x 26.5 cm Painter and teacher, born in London. He studied at the Slade School of Fine Art from 1914, joining the staff in 1919. Taught at Willesden School of Art, 1949–59, and was an examiner in art for the University of London school examinations for many years. Was a governor of several schools of art. Showed widely in London, having first one-man show at Redfern Gallery in 1924, also showing solo at Beaux Arts Gallery. Tate Gallery has his picture Elephants and the Arts Council his watercolour of Brighton.
